Advisory Board Member

Joanne Intile, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. Intile is a board-certified veterinary oncologist. She received her DVM from Cornell University and then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Long Island Veterinary Specialists. She completed a three-year residency in medical oncology at Cornell, after which she worked in private specialty veterinary practices in Rochester NY, Gaithersburg MD, and Riverhead NY.

While working full time at her last clinic, Dr. Intile also worked as an adjunct instructor in the veterinary science technology program at Suffolk County Community College. It was this experience that solidified Dr. Intile’s career goal of working in academia and she joined the faculty of the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University in February 2017. There she trains veterinary students, interns, and residents primarily in the discipline of medical oncology, but also plays a significant role in teaching verbal and written medical communication skills.

Dr. Intile has authored and co-authored several research articles and book chapters within the field of veterinary oncology. She was featured as one of the “Daily Vet” bloggers on for over two years. She is a certified veterinary journalist, who focuses on distributing accurate educational material to pet owners, with an emphasis on improving the perception of cancer treatment in animals.
